Welcome to the fresh-off-the-press redesigned SozoPhotoStudio.com! If you run into any dead end pages or broken urls or pages without pictures on them, we thank you for your patience while we renovate the site from top to bottom. Feedback is always welcome.

We’ve got a lot in store for the new SozoPhotoStudio.com. We’ll be gradually adding in galleries by category as well as further developing the site in the weeks to come. It’s definitely a work in progress!

Had a great shoot today with Dominick using a seamless white background – glossy white floor panels with white paper backdrop. The end result for me currently is more of a grayish semi-textured background. With some more tweaking of the flash (I’m currently using 4 AlienBees B800 strobe flash; two on the paper backdrop, one umbrella and one 5′ softbox), my goal is to come closer to an out-of-the-box white background (floor & back) shoot.

This particular picture had the background/flooring digitally removed using Paint Shop Pro X2 and Image Skill’s Background Remover 3 plugin.

Girls Soccer Game

Had a blast this afternoon photographing and videoing Harford Christian School’s Varsity soccer girls competing against Redeemer Classical Christian School at one of HCS’s fields in Darlington, Maryland. I’m working on a promo video for one of the seniors in her quest to get a sports scholarship at a college in Indiana.

Cliffed Superhero

Another picture from Micah’s costume themed photo shoot. What a character he is! We had a blast and would do it again any day. The one thing that bugs me about this picture is that you can see his socks. His costume had “flaps” of a sort which were intended to cover his shoes. I had him take off his shoes for the picture, but apparently the shoe flaps weren’t doing their job too well for this shot. Hey, what can I say? Any Superhero Jr does his rescuing folks in danger while sock footed, right?!

Fly Superhero!

Admittedly, this photo is a bit far fetched. We did a children’s costume shoot with Micah today, and he brought along his two favorite costumes – one of Superman and the other a military fatigue costume (with a toy revolver). So, how do you make a child superhero fly? We tried a variety of different poses, but Micah was a pretty active young boy and wasn’t too keen on staying still! He was also a bit upset because he’d forgotten to bring to the shoot his red flying cape. Nonetheless, the “flying” photo turned out not too badly.

Side note: Micah also wanted a series of photos of him (as the superhero) falling. We gave him two pictures of him falling (remember, he’d forgotten to bring his red flying cape, and, without that cape, junior superheros just can’t fly!) as well as one picture of him laying on the ground (supposedly of him “dead”). Hey, what can you say. All in the imagination of a 5 year old.

I really enjoyed doing a costume themed child photography shoot with Micah today. He brought a couple of his favorite costumes with him, and we got creative. Admittedly, some of his requests were outside the “realm of the possible,” but I think he walked away a pretty proud fellow.
